Tyrol stays Tyrol - the Darbo family buys shares in the Adolf Darbo AG
42.4 % of Darbo shares to be purchased from the Swiss Hero Group
In 1994, German market leader Schwartauer Werke GmbH purchased a 25 % holding in the Adolf Darbo AG during the course of a capital increase. Darbo used its financial power to construct a modern plant in Stans and to expand its market position. Schwartau increased gradually its shareholding to 42.4 % via ongoing purchases. Hero, Schwartau's Swiss parent company, has now decided to sell this equity stake to the Darbo family. Approximately 98 % of the A. Darbo AG is thus now in the family's possession. Company manager and M.B.A. Klaus Darbo confirmed that "the external minor shareholders are welcome to retain their shares and remain faithful to the company".
Mr. Darbo's four sons now occupy key positions in the family business. Klaus Darbo senior, M.B.A., who manages the business with his brother Adolf, remains chairman of the board.
Adolf Darbo AG, which achieved a turnover of Euro 99.7 million last year, aims to exceed the Euro 100 million mark in 2009. In the first quarter of 2009, the company was on course with an increase of 9 per cent. Darbo currently exports to 62 countries around the world, and employs approximately 300 members of staff.
